A lot has been said about our brain\’s electrical activity and its ability to create electromagnetic oscillations called waves or brainwaves. There are different types of brainwaves Depending on their frequency range (Alpha, Beta, Omega etc.). One of the most important type of brainwaves is the Alpha type (Alpha waves).

Alpha waves where discovered by Berger in the early 70\’s. He discovered that Alpha waves were arising due to electrical activity of brain cells in our brains. These brainwaves can be easily detected during periods of deep relaxation or sleep. Berger proved that when we feel happy and relaxed our brain \”transmits\” those low frequency waves.

So when our mind and body enters a relaxed state our brain starts sending those particular waves. Or is it the other way around? Yes it is. It\’s when our brain sends out those Alpha waves that we feel relaxed and happy. So, the next question is. Is there a way for us to trigger our brain\’s mechanism, to create those Alpha oscillations and enter a relaxed and happy mind state?

After years of research, scientists came up to the conclusion that brainwaves (and especially Alpha waves) can be altered so that we can feel relaxed and happy on demand. But how can we do that? Experiments and studies on people practicing Yoga showed that these people have increased alpha activities. Other studies have showed that by listening to certain sounds we can trigger the source of Alpha brainwaves and start feeling happier than ever.

Americans are swimming in debt; one of the best tools for getting out of it is a consolidation loan. Debt consolidation loans are only going to help you if you have the fiscal discipline to not secure new debts while paying off the old ones.

Debt consolidation loans come in two varieties. The first is a consolidation loan that\’s unsecured you\’re your debt is less than 20% of your annual income, this is usually not that hard to get from your bank or other financial institution. If your debt to income ratio is higher, any kind of consolidation loan will need to be secured by some tangible asset, such as your home, or in rare cases, your automobile.

Consolidation loans are usually built around a short term pay off rate - seven years or less, and are typically structured to be a payment that\’s easy for you to make. As a general rule of thumb, most credit counselors recommend that your monthly debt reduction payments be no more than 20% of your monthly income; if you can afford to make double payments on a debt consolidation loan, paying more now will save you much more money in the long term, due to the way interest on debt is calculated.

Before getting a debt consolidation loan, it is always worth your trouble to comparison shop, and work from the most current information possible. Talk to a credit counselor and your bank before signing any kind of debt consolidation loan paperwork, and read the fine print. Look out for high up front fees, or penalties for early payments; also be on the lookout for \”adjustable rate\” loans; you can bet that the rate will go up at some point in the future, and it may be significant enough that it will double your payments in a given month.

While you\’re working on your debt consolidation, take the time to restructure your spending habits. Fiscal discipline is more than just paying your bills on time, it\’s making a budget and sticking to it. The reason most Americans are swimming in debt is because basic finance isn\’t really taught that well in schools. Most Americans have no idea how interest is calculated, and they live paycheck to paycheck making minimum payments. If you\’re going to get a debt consolidation loan, hide your credit cards - put them in a safe deposit box, and leave them for emergencies.

While you\’re working on your debt consolidation, also look at your total lifestyle. Look for things you can trim out of your monthly budget; if you go to Starbucks every working day, on a month with 20 workdays, that\’s $100 or more for coffee. Similarly, if you go out to lunch every day, learn to pack one in; you\’ll be amazed at what cutting $10 per day out of your daily expenses can do for making your debts evaporate.

Ultimately, you want to live on 90% of what you earn, and save the rest. Let interest (from bank, money market and mutual fund accounts) work in your favor, not to the benefit of your creditors. It\’s easy to get in too deep on your credit, and turn credit into a sinking pit of quicks and; getting out of it takes careful planning and a sense of responsibility, and debt consolidation loans can be a critical part of this process.

Another aspect of debt consolidation loans worth mentioning is that they can make your payments more regularized; no more missed payments, no more late fees - you know the debt has to be paid on a single point in time. With all your debt consolidated to one bill, it\’s harder for it to slip through the cracks; you just put it on the payment register like rent, utilities and groceries.

Are allergies dangerous?

It is actually a one time shot of epinephrine that is administered as soon as it is realized that you are going into an anaphylactic shock and that you are in danger.

What types of medications are used to treat allergy sufferers?

Many allergy sufferers can get by with taking an over the counter medication to either help prevent an attack or help ease the symptoms. In some cases a doctor will prescribe a steroid based medicine in order to help strengthen the lungs and may include a prescription for an inhaler if an asthma attack were to occur.

How does an air purifier work?

All air purifiers work on the same basic principle. Contaminated air is pulled into the machine, a majority of the allergens are pulled out, and then the cleaner air is blown out. The differences in air purifiers come in how they filter the allergens.

Some units use ionized metal rods that attract the particles. When the rods become dirty, they are removed, cleaned off, and then reinserted. In other air purifiers there is a screen that the air passes through.

The multiple layers of paper or cloth help trap the allergens. When the screen is dirty it is then disposed of and a new one is put into place.

Can pets suffer from allergies?

Pets can suffer from allergies the same as we do. Some varieties are more prone to seasonal allergies than others though. What is the solution? Benadryl can work on humans and pets alike. Make sure you check with your vet before giving your pet any medicine to ensure the proper dosage and to find out what is causing the problems.

Thats just a few of reasons why banks are willing to accept a work out arrangement instead of foreclosing on your home.

Lenders are willing to grant one a one-time forbearance (an agreement not to foreclose) or loan reinstatement under certain circumstances. You must have experienced a hardship. Which would include loss of income, job loss etc. (see list of hardships on page 5) they also need to know that the hardship is over and that you can resume making your monthly payments.

So, it is very important that your lender understand that you have a legitimate reason for why you didnt make your monthly payments. Thats why they require w2s and checks stubs to verify that you had a loss in income.

If you predict that you will not be able to afford your mortgage payments in the future, there are other options that your lender may be willing to grant you such as deed in lieu and a short sale. Both of these options will prevent foreclosure, but neither allows you to keep your home.

Having a foreclosure on your credit report subtracts about 150 points from your fico score and you probably wont be able to get another mortgage for at least 2 years. So, if you can avoid foreclosure, then by all means do so.

Lastly, your chances of obtaining a workout plan will be greatly increased if you can come up with about 25-30% of the past due amount to offer the lender. This will help you bring your mortgage current faster, and lenders like that. This will also lower the monthly payment of your repayment plan.

The linkword system is language learning technique that uses association to link words in your native language to help you remember words in the language you are learning. I discovered this technique when I realized the French for \’I\’m fed up\’ sounds very similar to \’Johnny Marr\’ the name of a well-known guitarist in Britain. A French learner of English might say, \”oui, Arlette\” to help him remember \’we are late\’. The key is to associate the native language word with the meaning of the word in the target language oui Arlette on its own is not enough, one would need to conjure up an image of Arlette frantically looking at her watch as she realises just how late she is.

The more vivid or even ridiculous the association is, the more likely it will be to remember the word.

Can you really learn a language with the linkword system?

No, for there\’s a lot more to learning a language than having a big vocabulary. That said, it\’s a great way to kick-start your language learning, especially if you need to learn quickly. In the early stages, you need words more than you need correct sentence structure, and this is where traditional language learning methods have failed. If you want to borrow someone\’s pen, it\’s better to know the word for \’pen\’ in your target language than trying find a polite way of asking the question.

Drawbacks of the linkword sysem.

While the linkword language learning system can help you to acquire a large vocabulary in a very short time, the disadvantages are numerous:

Pronunication. If a Frenchman said to you \’oui Arlette\’ making no effort to change his usual French accent, you probably wouldn\’t be able to know that he was trying to say \’we are late\’ in English. Learners must learn to seperate their mnemonic association the linkword from the way it really sounds in the target language.

Range. One method I\’ve seen that uses the linkword method to teach basic vocabulary omits several very common words that even low-level beginners should know. Why is this? Probably because the course writer wasn\’t able to come up with a credible association for those words. And I\’m talking about French here, not a language with few similarities to English, like Chinese or Malaysian.

Relevance. One website gives an example of the linkword technique for the verb \’to tease\’. If I were a business traveler needing to get by in Chinese, then \’to tease\’ would not be at the top of my list of must-know vocabulary.

Idiom. all languages have idioms, and these are very difficult to teach as they need a relevent context for a learner to understand.

Compatibility. My example of \’Johnny Marr\’ (j\’en ai marre) for \’I\’m fed up\’ in French will probably have no effect if you\’ve never heard of Johnny Marr (he played with Morrissey in The Smiths, if you\’re interested). Books that tell you the linkwords sometimes suggest things that you just can\’t relate to, or are somewhat obscure.

Overall, the linkword system is a beneficial addition to any language learner\’s resources, and will boost your memorizing skills not only for languages but in other areas of your life.

Your home is a busy place. People are constantly working, cooking, playing, cleaning, washing and moving things around. There are simple things that you can put in place to clean up the air inside your home, so that everyone can breathe easier. If you have allergies or asthma, you are sensitive to particular triggers. These triggers can ignite a reaction in your lungs and other parts of your body. Triggers may be found indoors and outdoors. They may be simple things like:

• Illnessescolds and influenza
• Tobacco smoke and wood smoke from the fireplace
• Allergens such as dust mites, cockroaches, pollen, molds, animal dander, tiny scales or particles from hair, feathers, or dead skin cells and saliva from pets
• Perfumes, paint, hair spray, or any other strong odors or fumes

It is important to identify your triggers. This isnt always easy, so you should experiment by staying away from one suspected trigger at a time. You can tell if it is a problem if you see improvement when it is removed. It is much more difficult to control your triggers outdoors. So, if the air pollution and pollen levels are high, it is an excellent idea to stay indoors. The air in your home is easier for you to control. In some cases, people with asthma and allergies become aware that their symptoms deteriorate at night. Controlling triggers in the bedroom is the best place to start.

There are air cleaning machines that you may purchase that can eradicate some of the triggers in your home. Unfortunately, they will not remove them all. Some air cleaners utilize an electrical charge that makes ozone, which many manufacturers claim will purify the air. Sadly, ozone irritates the lungs, and is a particular problem for people with asthma. The American Lung Association does not recommend the use of air cleaners that produce ozone, and is printed in their brochure, Facts about home control of allergies and asthma. They advise that you look for a mechanical air cleaner with a HEPA, or preferably a hyper-HEPA filter, that does not produce ozone and can efficiently trap large and small particles.
